The government is looking into the 3.5-liter V6 that powers the Acura MDX and TLX as well as the Honda Pilot, Ridgeline, and Odyssey

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into 1.4 million Honda and Acura vehicles following reports of severe engine issues.The probe comes after Honda issued a recall in November 2023 for 249,

The connecting rod bearings on vehicles with 3.5-liter V6 engines can fail and cause the engine to stop working.

If this recall query into failing 3.5-liter V6 engines will morph into a new recall, Honda will have to fix a staggering 1.4 million vehicles in the US alone

It's been a rough year for owners of certain Honda and Acura vehicles. A year ago this month, Honda and Acura both issued recalls regarding issues with the engines in certain models. At that time over 248,000 of the 250,000 and change recalls impacted 2018-2019 Honda Pilot SUVs and Odyssey minivans, and 2017-2019 Ridgeline trucks.

A 2023 recall may not have included as many vehicles as it should have.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it’s opening a recall query to determine the severity of the problem in vehicles not included in the 2023 recall.

A year into the recall, though, authorities aren’t sure Honda is doing right by affected vehicle owners.
