Iga Swiatek pulled off an unfortunate feat at this year's WTA Finals after the 23-year-old became just the fourth player in the last 20 years to finish the Round Robin stage with a 2-1 record but still not reach the semifinal.

American star Coco Gauff defeated world No. 2 Iga Swiatek 6-3, 6-4 on Tuesday, sealing her spot in the semifinals of the year-end WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Most tennis fans did not know what to expect in Sunday's WTA Finals match between Iga Swiatek and Barbora Krejcikova. Swiatek had not played since the US Open and shook up her coaching staff, while Krejcikova had only won five matches since her Wimbledon title.
