Veterans Day is Nov. 11 and every year the nation comes together to honor and celebrate those who have served their country in the armed forces. In San Diego, Veterans Day holds special meaning seeing as the region is home to a large number of active-duty military personnel.

Offices and services in both the city and the county of San Diego will close on Monday in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. Here’s a look at what will be closed and open around the region for this holiday: Parking meters,

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Veterans Day Parade has been around for more than three decades. Its a day when the community unites to pay their respects to those who have served in the military. “I mean they truly are American heroes, they are the patriots that have really guaranteed our freedoms,” San Diego Veterans Day Parade Chair David Koontz said.

Veterans Day is a significant U.S. holiday dedicated to honoring military veterans. Celebrating this day involves attending parades, visiting veterans' hospitals and donating.

Veterans Day celebrations were already underway on Saturday, with community members gathering in Riverside, East Los Angeles and Long Beach amongst the many other places hosting early events.
