The comedian, 47, cursed during his acceptance speech when “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” won Outstanding Scripted Variety Series at the Emmys 2024 on Sunday night. Oliver’s speech got cut off as he began to talk about his dog that died.

Tonight With John Oliver took home the award for best scripted variety series Sunday at the 76th Emmy Awards. The win was the second straight in the category for Last Week Tonight, which is also as many awards as have been given out for best scripted variety series.

John Oliver won the Emmy for 'Last Week Tonight' and was played off by the orchestra while in the middle of honoring his family's dog who died.
