The No. 15 Sooners were embarrassed 25-15 at home by No. 6 Tennessee in OU’s first SEC game. The Volunteers controlled the game from the start as Oklahoma’s offense was so bad that quarterback Jackson Arnold got benched for true freshman Michael Hawkins.

Oklahoma averaged a measly 1.1 yards per carry in the loss. There were a few occasions where the Sooners found a bit of running room but failed to do so consistently. Jovantae Barnes led Oklahoma running backs with eight carries, but only turned it into 12 yards. And that includes a 17-yard run to the outside.

Now, Arnold is fighting for his job after turning the ball over three times in the first half against Tennessee on Saturday night. Michael Hawkins Jr. sparked the Sooners in the second half of the 25-15 loss, and now coach Brent Venables has declared the position open heading into next week’s game at Auburn.
